Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding
student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Woodlands Credit Union
Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their
efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Eric Robinson, (Foxborough, Mass.) Jr., F, Ice Hockey
Robinson has been outstanding for the men's hockey team the first two weeks of the year. He has scored in each of the Big Green's four games so far and has five goals and six total points overall. This past weekend against Yale and Brown, the junior forward scored both Dartmouth's game-winning goals, including one against Brown that broke a 1-1 tie with 5:45 left in the third period. He matched career highs with two goals and three points the night before as the Green and White knocked off Yale, 7-4, snapping an 11-game winless streak to the Bulldogs dating back to 2008. His three game winners lead the nation as do his 1.25 goals per game, while ranking second in the country with three power-play tallies.
In her final game in a Dartmouth uniform, McPherson made sure her play was the difference. Trailing 1-0 at halftime on the road at Cornell Saturday, it was the finishing ability of the senior forward that helped the Big Green escape with a 2-1 victory. Scoring her first of the afternoon early in the final half of the season knotted the game, which seemed destined for overtime as it remained that way into the waning moments. But a second McPherson goal with just 56 seconds left on the game clock gave the Big Green the one-goal advantage and a second-place finish in the Ivy League with a 6-1 record.
