HANOVER, N.H. - Junior Maggie Scanlon (Shaker Heights, Ohio) of the Dartmouth field hockey team has been named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week along with Penn's Sarah Hasson, the conference office today announced.

Scanlon earned the distinction after leading the team with eight points in three games last week, all while coming off the bench for the Big Green in each. She tied for the team lead with three goals and two assists as Dartmouth went 3-0 to improve to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in Ivy play.

Against Bryant on Wednesday, Scanlon scored once and assisted on another in a 6-5 non-conference win that helped her team snap a four-game skid. She continued her scoring ways with five points on two goals and one assist Sunday afternoon at Holy Cross as Dartmouth cruised to an 8-1 victory.

Though held without a point on Saturday against Brown, Scanlon's play in the midfield helped the Big Green notch their first Ivy League win of the season, knocking off the Bears, 3-2, on a late goal.

This is Scanlon's first individual honor from the Ivy League and the first for Dartmouth since Ali Savage was named the Rookie of the Week after the final game of last season (Nov. 8). Senior co-captain Lisa Masini (Ann Arbor, Mich.) is the last Big Green student-athlete to be named the Ivy League Player of the Week, doing so on Oct. 4 of last fall.

Besides the conference honor, Scanlon was also named the DartmouthSports.com Woodlands Credit Union Female Athlete of the Week.

Scanlon and her teammates return to action Saturday at home against Penn. Game time between the Big Green and the Quakers is set for noon.
