HANOVER, N.H. — On Monday, August 12, the Dartmouth athletics department will host its inaugural VIP golf tournament — the Big Green Invitational — at famed TPC Boston in Norton, Mass. All Dartmouth alumni, parents and friends are invited to register for the tournament, though space is limited. Golfers will be registered in the order in which their RSVPs are received.
Among those participating will be Dartmouth President Philip J. Hanlon ’77, Director of Athletics and Recreation Harry Sheehy ’55a and various Big Green head coaches.
“We look forward to a great day of Dartmouth fellowship on a world-class golf course,” said Sheehy.
Named by Golf Digest among the “Top 10 Best New Private Clubs in the US,” TPC Boston is the annual host of the Deutsche Bank Championship, one of only four events for the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Playoffs. The 2012 Deutsche Bank Championship field included Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy (tournament champion) and Brandt Snedeker (FedExCup champion).
With the Deutsche Bank Championship taking place just two weeks after the Big Green Invitational, golfers can expect a PGA Tournament experience, including grandstands, hospitality tents and superb playing conditions.
The event will begin with lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m. After the tournament, golfers will be treated to a cocktail reception and awards presentation featuring remarks from both President Hanlon and Harry Sheehy.
