HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth field hockey head coach Amy Fowler has announced her team’s 17-game slate for the upcoming 2014 season.
Like last year, the Big Green will begin the season with two road games in the same location. Dartmouth will open at Northwestern (Sept. 5) in Evanston, Illinois, before playing Louisville (Sept. 6) the following afternoon in a neutral-site game on the same field.
After the opening in suburban Chicago, the Green will also head to Northeastern (Sept. 12), Maine (Oct. 7), UMass Lowell (Oct. 19) and New Hampshire (Nov. 2) to complete the non-conference road portion of the schedule.
The non-conference home slate kicks off with a familiar face making his return to Hanover. Former Big Green assistant coach Andy Smith comes back to the Upper Valley as the head coach of Pacific (Sept. 9) for a Tuesday morning contest set to take place at Chase Field at 11:30 a.m.
In addition to Pacific, non-conference opponents from Bryant (Sept. 28), Albany (Oct. 11) and Holy Cross (Oct. 13) will all make the trip to Hanover this fall.
Ivy League play begins at Princeton (Sept. 20). That meeting with the Tigers is the only conference road game for more than a month. The only other Ancient Eight tilts away from home the rest of the season come at Columbia (Oct. 26) and Cornell (Nov. 8) with the game in Ithaca also serving as the team’s regular-season finale in 2014.
At home, Dartmouth will play host to Brown (Sept. 27), Penn (Oct. 4), Yale (Oct. 18) and Harvard (Nov. 1) to fill out its seven-game league schedule. The Crimson’s appearance in Hanover that Saturday in November marks the home finale for the team and the Class of 2015.
