HANOVER, N.H. - After falling behind 2-0 midway through the first half, the Dartmouth field hockey team came back to earn a 3-2 exhibition win Monday afternoon against the University of Victoria (British Columbia) at Chase Field.
Seniors Maya Herm (Bethesda, Md.), Liz Blanken (Short Hills, N.J.) and junior Olivia Quaglia (Los Altos, Calif.) scored the Big Green's three tallies on the afternoon with the winner coming with just 9:12 left in regulation.
Sophomore Ellen Meyer (Prospect, Ky.) started the game in goal for Dartmouth before giving way to Jenna Stearns (Thornton, N.H.) for the final 35 minutes of goalkeeping duties. The two combined to stop seven shots.
Both teams participated in a shootout following the conclusion of 70 minutes with the Vikes holding a 4-2 advantage after each team had 10 shooters step up.
Dartmouth's regular season gets started on Friday night against UMass on the road at 6 p.m. The Big Green will open its home slate of games with a Sunday tilt with Northeastern at 2 p.m. at Chase Field.
