DERBY, Conn.  – Dartmouth women’s rowing competed in the Class of 1985 Cup against host Yale and Penn, which was a guest in the race. The Bulldogs walked away with the win by virtue of their victory in the varsity eight.

“Our goal going into this weekend, since we had the opportunity to face Penn again, was to improve on race execution and close the margins as much as possible across all the boat classes,” head coach Linda Muri said. “In extremely fast conditions on the Housatonic (tail current and a variable following wind), we achieved that goal in four out of five races today. I'm very proud of the women for setting a goal like this and then working hard to go after it. Having made this step forward this week creates positive momentum as we move further into the season.”

In the varsity eight, Dartmouth completed the 2,000-meter course in third (6:14.6), finishing behind Yale in first (5:59.9) and Penn in second place (6:11.4). It was the same story in the second varsity: the Big Green took third (6:29.7), crossing the line behind the Bulldogs (6:03.4) and the Quakers (6:10.4). It was just Yale and Dartmouth in the third varsity. The home team was first (6:21.0), while the Big Green followed soon after (6:47.5).

Dartmouth finished closely behind Penn in the varsity four A, completing the course in 7:06.9 to the Quakers’ 7:01.0. It was another close race in the varsity four B, as just five seconds separated Penn (7:01.0) and the Big Green (7:06.9). Yale was first in both races.

On Saturday, April 15, Dartmouth will head to Saratoga Springs to face Harvard and Syracuse.
