The Big Green heavyweight and women’s crew teams will be on the water this weekend. The heavyweights will host Brown in the battle for the Atalanta Cup while the women will travel to Princeton, N.J. to face the Tigers, Penn and Tennessee for the Class of 1984 Cup.

Big Green Tidbits
Final Home Race of the Season On Tap –
The Big Green heavyweights will close out the home racing schedule when they welcome Brown to the Connecticut River this weekend. This is the second home race of the season for the crew teams as the lightweights hosted Harvard and MIT earlier this season. The Big Green women won’t have a home race this season for the first time since 2009.

 Heavyweights Battle Brown For Atalanta Cup – The heavyweights will continue their cup racing this weekend when Brown travels to Hanover and the Connecticut River for the Atalanta Cup. The Big Green are looking to claim the cup for the first time since 2003.

For Those Planning on Watching The Race – Spectators can park at the Rugby Clubhouse and shuttle vans will provide transportation to the Chieftain. There will be NO spectator parking at the Chieftain. To get to the Rugby Clubhouse:

1. Take Lyme Road/Route 10 North
2. At the first traffic circle, take the first exit onto Reservoir Road and the clubhouse is at 9 Reservoir Road.

Women Will Battle for Class of 1984 Cup – The Big Green women also continue their cup season when they make the trip to Princeton for the Class of 1984 Cup. The Big Green are looking to claim the Cup for the first time since 1986. Dartmouth has taken runner-up honors each of the last eight seasons.

 Back Down Memory Lane for Head Coach Wendy Bordeau – This weekend’s trip to Princeton will serve as a bit of a homecoming for women’s crew coach Wendy Bordeau. Bordeau is a 1998 Princeton graduate and captained the team in her senior year. She also spent time as the novice coach at Princeton.

 Dartmouth Women Receiving Votes in CRCA Poll – The Big Green women’s squad is receiving votes in this week’s edition of the CRCA/USARowing Coaches Poll. The Big Green have three votes in the weekly poll. The Ivy League is well represented as Princeton has a No. 6 ranking this week to lead the Ancient Eight schools. Harvard (7), Brown (9), Yale (12), Cornell (15) and Columbia (17) are also ranked.

Big Green Men Getting Votes Too! – The men’s heavyweight first varsity eight is ranked No 16 this week, after posting a No. 14 ranking last week. Harvard leads the Ivy League contingent and is ranked No. 2.  The men’s lightweight rankings are also out and the Big Green check in at No.  5. The Ivy League is well represented on the lightweight side, owning the top seven spots in the poll, with the Crimson checking in at No. 1 and Yale at No. 2.

Women’s Crew and Heavyweight Men Will Travel to Windermere Cup – The Big Green men’s heavyweight team and the women’s squad will make the trek to Seattle for the 27th Annual Windermere Cup on May 4. The annual event signals the opening day for boaters in Seattle. Ivy League foe, Cornell will also compete in the prestigious race. 

Welcome to the Team! – Among the three rowing squads, the Big Green will be welcoming a total of 49 freshmen to Hanover this season. The lightweight crew team adds 20 new members while the heavyweights will add 15 and the women will welcome 14. Welcome to Dartmouth and Hanover!

Healey Takes Over Lightweight Program – The Big Green welcomed Sean Healy to the lightweight crew family last summer, when he was named head coach, taking over for Dan Roock. Healy spent the previous six seasons as the freshman lightweight coach at his alma mater, Cornell.

Bordeau’s Return to Coach Heavyweights and Women’s SquadsWendy Bordeau and Topher Bordeau return to coach the women and men’s heavyweight squads. Wendy is entering her ninth season as head coach and is assisted by former Dartmouth rower, Anne Kennedy. Topher Bordeau is entering his eighth season at Dartmouth and is assisted by former Dartmouth rower, Andy Hilton, who is in his third season.
