Q&A With Abby Stevenson
I chose Dartmouth because of the people. There is a strong sense of community on campus and accessibility to great professors.
How long have you been rowing and what interested you about rowing?
I've been racing since 8th grade. What I love about rowing is that it consistently presents challenges to rise to. there are many layers of competition. You're always competing against yourself to beat previous best times, you compete against teammates for a spot in a boat, and then you come together to compete against other teams. It is endlessly challenging-- and successes, small or large, personal or shared, are extremely gratifying. Plus, the sensation of being part of a boat that is really moving well is unparalleled.
What is something about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates?
I used to have a pet eel named Elmer.
What are your future plans? If any?
I am a psychology major and plan to pursue a career in marketing.
