Q&A with Ryan Archer

Why Dartmouth?

I chose Dartmouth primarily because of the strength of the academics and of the rowing program here, because of the passion of the people and the community here, and because of the beautiful campus and its surroundings. Dartmouth is also in a location that makes it easy to participate in outdoor activites, such as hiking and skiing among others, which interest me.

How long have you been rowing and what got you interested in rowing?

I have been rowing since the spring of my freshman year in highschool. I started rowing because I wanted to try a sport in the spring season that I had not tried before.

Have you won any academic or rowing awards recently?

In highschool I was awarded a finalist standing for the National Merit Scholarship.  I have not yet won any awards at Dartmouth.

Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.

I have a fraternal twin brother, who used to row but now plays waterpolo.

What are your future plans, if any.

I hope to discover what I want to study. I am interested in the sciences and am considering pre-medicine classes, although I still am not sure of what I
want to study.
