Allison Evans, a former US National Team player, begins her second year as assistant coach for Dartmouth women's lacrosse in 2011-12 afer joining the staff in August, 2010. She currently serves as the Big Green's recruiting coordinator.
In addition to her impressive playing resume, which includes her collegiate lacrosse at William & Mary and a stint with the US team from 2006-07, Evans has coached at both her alma mater and Ivy foe Columbia University.
Evans helped the Big Green to immediate success in her first year in Hanover, with Dartmouth winning the 2011 Ivy League Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. She mentored seven All-Ivy honorees, five IWLCA All-Region honorees and three All-Americans.
"We are pleased to have Allison join our staff as she
brings a real passion for the game and thorough work ethic to our program,"
said head coach Amy Patton at the time of her hiring. "Alli has a creative eye for the game and will bring great
enthusiasm to the field for our players. We are thrilled to have someone of her
caliber both as a player and coach join our staff."
Evans' most recent stop was at Columbia, where she served as the Lions' top assistant and recruiting coordinator for the past year. On the field, she was primarily responsible for the defense and midfield players, mentoring two All-Ivy honorees in midfielder Taylor Gattinella and defender Amanda Goodhart.
Prior to her arrival in New York, Evans spent two seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, William & Mary, for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. In addition to recruiting, Evans worked closely with the midfielders and attack while helping her athletes set single-season team records for goals (244) and points (347) in 2009. During both of her seasons, the Tribe won the Colonial Athletic Association regular season title and achieved a top-20 ranking.
A midfielder by trade, Evans earned All-CAA honors in both 2002 as a junior and 2003 as a senior when she also served as team captain. She finished her collegiate career with 116 points. In 2006, Evans was named to the US National Elite Team and has also served as a coach's trainer for that program.
Prior to her collegiate coaching career, Evans served as a high school coach at Annandale High School in Virginia, her alma mater, from 2004-07. She served in that capacity while working as an asset analyst for the Mills Corporation and then a financial analyst for JPI real estate development. Evans also coached lacrosse for one year after her graduation (2003-04) at St. Mary's School in England.
Evans earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from William & Mary in 2003 and is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports management at Columbia.
"Now that Alli has settled into her position as first assistant, it is even more apparent this year how lucky we are to have her on the coaching staff. She offers such a wealth of knowledge about the game of lacrosse and dispenses it so effectively. She’s passionate about the sport and the program, inciting the same feelings in all of us. Alli is dedicated to making each of us better everyday and pushes us to reach our full potential. This is the most obvious when she jumps in to drills and full field scrimmages. She brings out the competitive side in all of us and makes practices both more productive and more fun." - Dana Brisbane '12
