NEW HAVEN, CONN. — The Dartmouth men's squash team played at the Ivy Scrimmages in its final competition before the regular season begins on Nov. 19. The Big Green used the Scrimmages to introduce three freshmen to competitive college squash. The men representing Dartmouth for the first time were Michael Mistras (Wilmington, Del.), Mark Funk (Short Hills, N.J.), and Bayard Kuensell (Haverford, Pa.).
The team opened the season against a deep Cornell team in a thrilling match that saw the Big Green lose, 7-2. There were many positive performances on the Dartmouth team and several lost matches were extremely close and could have gone either way. junior Robbie Maycock (Devonshire, Bermuda) played the best match of his college career, and dismantled his opponent on number 4 on the team.
Columbia was the next opponent and its team could not stop the Big Green from pulling away to an 8-1 victory.
The weekend came to a close against Penn who have provided stiff opposition to the Dartmouth team over the past few years. The Big Green sailed through and dominated with a solid 9-0 win, finishing the scrimmages in fifth position.
