CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Dartmouth men’s squash earned a 6-3 victory against Navy in the opening of the Hoehn Cup on Friday afternoon.

The 2014 Hoehn Cup is hosted by Harvard, contested at the Murr Center and features the No. 9 - No. 16 ranked teams in the country.

For the second season in a row, the Big Green won their first round match at the event.

The Green and White played a quality match with three of the wins coming via shutouts. Mark Funk, Michael Mistras and Bayard Kuensell each needed only three games to secure victories. Mistras was leading, 7-3, in the third game when his opponent defaulted due to injury. Kunsell never surrendered more than seven points in any of his three games and Funk won in three for the second match in a row.

Kyle Martino and George Henderson earned the other two points for Dartmouth at No. 3 and No. 9, respectively. Both Martino and Henderson scored come-from-behind, five-set wins for the team from the Upper Valley. The duo each overcame 2-1 deficits to help Dartmouth move forward.

The Big Green continue their march for the championship in Flight B tomorrow, Feb. 15, squaring off with top-seeded Princeton at 9 a.m.
