Hansi Wiens enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Big Green squash teams. Prior to becoming head coach, he served as an assistant to Coach John Power.
Wiens came to Dartmouth after managing the Balearic Islands (Spain) club team for three years.
Prior to coaching in Spain he was the owner/manager and coach of the March Sports Club in his native Germany from 1996 until 2003.
As a player, Wiens was a full-time professional player for eight years. During that span he was ranked as high as eighth in the world. A nine-time German Close champion, he represented his country in team competition 46 times.
Wiens studied engineering in German doing a three-year apprenticeship. He speaks four languages, German, English, Spanish and Russian.
Wiens lives in Hanover, N.H. with wife Valeria and daughter Scarlett and son Lorenz.
