HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men’s hockey head coach Bob Gaudet has announced his team’s schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season.
The Big Green will play 29 regular season games including 17 on the familiar ice of Thompson Arena in front of their home fans.
The slate features 22 ECAC Hockey contests and 10 games against fellow Ivy League programs.
Two games against the defending national champion from Union as well as national semifinalist Boston College highlight the schedule, while Dartmouth will face off against six teams that qualified for the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
No longer participating in the annual Ivy Shootout (Liberty Shootout in 2013-14), Dartmouth will play in five regular, non-tournament style match-ups this winter. American International (Nov. 29), Boston University (Nov. 30), Sacred Heart (Dec. 14) and regional rival Vermont (Jan. 11) will all be making the trip to Hanover, while the Green will head to New Hampshire (Jan. 9) to play the Wildcats for the first time in Durham since the 2000 season and just the third time in the last 30 years.
The 26th Annual Ledyard Classic is set for Jan. 2-3 and features Boston College, Denver and league foe Brown. Dartmouth will open with the Pioneers on the first night of competition before playing the Eagles the following evening. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m., while the Bears will alternate opponents and play their games at 4 p.m. each day.
The season begins on the road at Harvard (Nov. 1), marking the first of three straight away from Hanover with contests at Union (Nov. 7) and Rensselaer (Nov. 8) the following weekend. It will be nearly a month before the team heads back out on the road at Quinnipiac (Dec. 5) and Princeton (Dec. 6).
Other ECAC Hockey away games include: Colgate (Jan. 23), Cornell (Jan. 24), Brown (Feb. 6), Yale (Feb. 7), Clarkson (Feb. 20) and St. Lawrence (Feb. 21).
The home portion of the season kicks off against 2013 National Champion Yale (Nov. 14) and Brown (Nov. 15). Following the meetings with the Bulldogs and Bears, there is a short turnaround as a Tuesday night game against Harvard (Nov. 18) falls just three days later. The aforementioned games with AIC and BU round out a five-game homestand to wrap-up the first month of the season.
Dartmouth will also play host to league games against St. Lawrence (Jan.16), Clarkson (Jan. 17), Rensselaer (Jan. 30), Union (Jan. 31), Cornell (Jan. 13), Colgate (Jan. 14), Princeton (Feb. 27) and Quinnipiac (Feb. 28) at Thompson Arena.
The Green and White also have scheduled an exhibition against the University of Alberta on Saturday, Oct. 25.OCTOBER
