HANOVER, N.H. – Head coach Bob Gaudet has today announced the 2013-14 schedule for his Dartmouth men’s hockey team.

The team will take to the ice 29 times in the regular season, including 12 home games set for the familiar confines of Thompson Arena.

“I am looking forward to this season as we have another challenging campaign ahead of us,” Gaudet said. “Last year proved how great our league was with two teams playing for the national championship. This year should be no different as our schedule features some of the best teams in all of college hockey, not only in league play, but also in the non-conference opponents that we are set to battle this winter.”

The first weekend of the season will feel like it had the previous three seasons with Princeton (Oct. 25) and either Brown or Yale (Oct. 26) on tap. However, gone is the previous make-up of the Ivy Shootout, replaced with the inaugural Liberty Shootout to be held in Newark’s Prudential Center, home to the National Hockey League’s New Jersey Devils.

November starts with four straight home games as league play gets underway. Games against Union (Nov. 1) and Rensselaer (Nov. 2) are followed by a weekend against North Country foes Clarkson (Nov. 8) and St. Lawrence (Nov. 9). The month ends with another home contest against Harvard (Nov. 30).

Match-ups at Princeton (Nov. 15) and defending ECAC Hockey Regular Season Champion Quinnipiac (Nov. 16) mark the only road contests of November. However, the Big Green will face three formidable road foes in early December as they embark against defending national champion Yale (Dec. 6), last year’s conference tournament runners-up Brown (Dec. 7) and the two-time defending ECAC Hockey Tournament Champion Union (Dec. 11).

The annual Ledyard Classic will see Northeastern and Air Force in the first game of the tournament, while Providence (Dec. 29) will battle the home team in the other meeting. Winners will play the following evening after the conclusion of the consolation game.

Early January starts with three straight Hockey East opponents as road games at Vermont (Jan. 3) and Boston University (Jan. 8) lead up to the neutral-site game meeting with New Hampshire (Jan. 14) set for a return to Manchester and the Verizon Wireless Arena.

The rest of the way will see Colgate (Jan. 17), Cornell (Jan. 18), Quinnipiac (Jan. 31), Princeton (Feb. 1), Brown (Feb. 21) and Yale (Feb. 22) make their way to Hanover and Thompson Arena.

Dartmouth’s remaining league road games after the New Year include Rensselaer (Jan. 24), Harvard (Feb. 7), St. Lawrence (Feb. 14), Clarkson (Feb. 15), Cornell (Feb. 28) and Colgate (Mar. 1).

The 2014 ECAC Hockey Tournament get started with first-round (Mar. 7-9) and quarterfinal action (Mar. 14-16) will conclude with the final weekend heading back to Lake Placid (Mar. 21-22) after spending the last three years in Atlantic City.
