Tyler Sikura '15 will attend the Winnipeg Jets Development Camp for a week as an undrafted invitee, updating fans on his experience during that time with a daily blog on DartmouthSports.com

Day 1: Arrival - July 14, 2013

Hope you Big Green fans are having a great summer! My name is Tyler Sikura ’15 and I am a sociology major and currently attending the Winnipeg Jets development camp hosted in Winnipeg. I’m going to be keeping a daily blog throughout the week with brief updates each day until Saturday when I depart.

Today was arrival day, with all 43 participants checking into the Fairmont Hotel before getting fitted for equipment and having an introductory dinner at the MTS Centre. It was there where we met various members of the Jets organization, including head coach Claude Noel and Jets young phenom Evander Kane, and received our itinerary for the week.

Each day we will have both an on-ice session and off-ice workout, with the exception of tomorrow where we will undergo fitness testing instead of an off-ice workout. Media training, team building activities and even a KISS concert are also planned throughout the week. I played junior hockey with two of the attendees so it’s been nice to catch up with them and reminisce.

It’s shaping up to be a great week but I’m hitting the hay for an early wake up in the morning!

Until tomorrow,
