LAS VEGAS - Dan Nycholat (Calgary, Alberta) was one of five players to sign an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) on the morning of Friday, March 16.

Nycholat just finished his first season with the Dartmouth men's hockey team as a senior after transferring from Northeastern two years ago. The defenseman played in 25 games in 2011-12 for the Big Green, recording two assists and 15 penalty minutes.

Nycholat's first game in a Wranglers' uniform saw him finish +1 last Friday night in a 3-1 loss to the Stockton Thunder. The Thunder's backup goalie that night was former Dartmouth teammate and classmate Jody O'Neill (Nepean, Ontario).

On Sunday afternoon, the former Big Green defenseman was again +1 and had a shot on goal in a 4-3 loss to Bakersfield.

Nycholat was the third member of this year's senior class to go pro following the conclusion of the season, joining O'Neill and Connor Goggin (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) who signed with Rockford of the American Hockey League.
