HANOVER, N.H. - The ninth-seeded Dartmouth men's hockey team will travel to Ithaca, N.Y., next weekend to take on second-seeded Cornell in the quarterfinals of the 2012 ECAC Hockey Championships.
The Big Green (13-14-4) will play the Big Red (15-7-7) in a best-of-three series starting with Game 1 on Friday, March 9 at Lynah Rink. Game 2 will be Saturday night and, if necessary, a Game 3 will be Sunday.
Cornell defeated Dartmouth in overtime, 4-3, Jan. 20 in the regular season meeting between the two teams in Ithaca.
The Big Green advanced to the quarterfinals after sweeping St. Lawrence, 6-3 and 4-1, in the first round of the league's postseason. Dartmouth was the only team to move on via the sweep, doing so on the road for the first time in program history.
No. 1 Union will host No. 10 RPI after the Engineers knocked off No. 7 Clarkson in three games. No. 3 Harvard will see No. 6 Yale come to Cambridge after the Bulldogs took out Princeton in a decisive Game 3, while No. 5 Quinnipiac will head to Hamilton to take on No. 4 Colgate.
All four quarterfinal matchups will begin Friday evening.
