ALBANY – Dartmouth junior Eric Neiley has been named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

The Warminster, Pa., native received the conference’s highest weekly accolade after scoring twice and assisting on another against No. 17 Northeastern to tie his career high with three points Monday evening.

Neiley notched two tallies just 4:10 apart in the final minutes of the second period, recording his first two-goal game since last February. The junior winger also added an assist in the contest, helping set up classmate Andy Simpson’s third-period marker. His play against both the Huskies and No. 5 Providence earned Neiley a spot on the 2013 Ledyard Classic All-Tournament Team.

For Neiley, this marks the second ECAC Hockey weekly honor in his career. He was tabbed the Rookie of the Week on Jan. 24, 2012 in addition to this latest recognition.

This season, Neiley leads the team with nine goals (a new career high) and 13 points through 14 games.

This also marks the second straight year that a Dartmouth player earned a weekly award as announced on New Year’s Day as Cab Morris won his second ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week accolade on Jan. 1, 2013.

Besides Neiley, Yale’s Alex Lyon was tabbed the Rookie of the Week, while Quinnipiac’s Michael Garteig was named the Goaltender of the Week.
