PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Dartmouth men's hockey standout Doug Jones '12 has been tabbed as the Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month for October. Playing with the Gwinnett Gladiators, Jones had a stellar month in his first full season of professional hockey.

The former Big Green forward scored five goals and added five assists for 10 points, while posting a +4 rating in eight games over the course of the month.

Jones led all ECHL rookies in goals and points, while ranking fourth in assists in October playing for a team based 45 minutes from where he grew up.

The Marietta, Ga., native made his debut with the Gladiators last season following a four-year career at Dartmouth that saw Jones finish tied for 23rd in program history in scoring with 107 points (29g/78a). His 78-career assists rank eighth all-time at Dartmouth.

Jones' former team takes to the ice Friday night against Yale and Saturday night against Brown in its ECAC Hockey opening weekend. Both games are set for 7 p.m. starts at Thompson Arena.
