HANOVER, N.H. - The ECAC Hockey league office released its 2012-13 Preseason Men's Coaches and Media Polls as well as all-conference selections during its annual teleconference this morning.

The Dartmouth men earned the No. 7 spot on the preseason rankings with 58 points as voted by the league's head coaches.

Union, a team that advanced to the 2012 Frozen Four last season, was tabbed to repeat as regular season champion again this winter with 118 points and eight first-place votes for the top spot. The Dutchmen have won the last two regular season titles as well as last season's tournament championship.

Cornell earned three top votes from coaches and was just back of Union with 110 points.

The media picked Dartmouth 10th in its poll with the same top six teams in order as the coaches' rankings.

The Big Green finished last season ninth in ECAC Hockey standings, but swept St. Lawrence on the road in the first round of the league's postseason, something that no team has ever done.

The program lost 10 players to graduation from last year's team, but a talented group of underclassmen, including 10 incoming freshmen along with a sophomore class that was the leading first-year unit in terms of goals last season should bolster the Dartmouth lineup in 2012-13.

Skilled junior and senior classes will also complement that wealth of young talent as the Big Green squares off with one of the most challenging schedules in recent memory.
