2014-15 (Senior): Played in all 33 games…Earned All-Ivy League Second Team honors…Named the winner of the Smoyer Award as the team's 'Unsung Hero'... Finished the season third in the nation in blocked shots per game (2.52) and 10th in total blocked shots (83), leading ECAC Hockey in both categories…Finished the season with one goal, six assists and seven points…Scored his lone goal of the season in Dartmouth’s 8-3 win at home against Sacred Heart on Dec. 14…Had a two-assist game at Brown on Feb. 6…Posted assists in consecutive games against Princeton (Mar. 7) and Colgate (Mar. 13) during the first round and quarterfinals of the league’s postseason…Dartmouth was 1-0-0 when Simpson scored and 4-2-0 when he registered a point.
2013-14 (Junior): Missed just one game, appearing in 33-of-34 contests…Tied for fifth on the team in scoring with 13 points on four goals and nine assists…His nine helpers ranked fourth on the team…Second on the team with 57 blcoked shots over the course of the season…Was Dartmouth’s highest-scoring defenseman…Picked up his first two points of the season with assists against Brown at the Prudential Center in Newark as part of the Liberty Shootout on Oct. 26…Scored his first goal of the year in the home opener with Union on Nov. 1…Missed the Nov. 2 game with Rensselear, but had points in the two games before and the two games after…Scored the game-tying goal against Yale on Feb. 22 at home, finding the back of the net with a slap shot from the point with 1:36 remaining in regulation to help the Big Green earn the tie and the league point… Dartmouth was 0-2-2 when he scored a goal and 3-6-2 when picking up a point.
2012-13 (Sophomore): Played in 27 games, missing time due to injury late in the season…Second on the team in points by a defenseman as he finished the season with nine on two goals and seven assists…Picked up his first point of the season with an assist at Brown on Oct. 27 as the Big Green claimed the Ivy League Shootout title with a 4-0 win…Scored his first goal of the season on Jan. 25 at home against St. Lawrence, firing a puck into the back of the net on the power play with less than a second remaining in the first period…Had the team’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie at Harvard on Feb. 10...Fourth on the team with 20 PIMs…Played in 19 ECAC Hockey contests, finishing with two goals and five assists.
2011-12 (Freshman): Came on as one of the team's top defenders in his first season, playing in 16 games while battling injuries...Registered one goal and three assists for four points...Registered a +/- rating of +6...Was called for just two minor penalties all season and none in any of his 10 games played against ECAC Hockey opponents...Scored his first career goal against St. Lawrence in the second game of the first-round matchup between the two teams on 3/3...Picked up his first career point in his first collegiate game on 11/12 against Cornell, assisting on a Tyler Sikura goal...Collected an assist on the final goal of the season in Game 2 of the quarterfinals at Cornell on 3/10.
Before Dartmouth: One of the best overall defensemen in the USHL...Finished 2010 with 23 points in 59 games...Named the Most Improved Player during his post-grad year of 2009-10 with Cedar Rapids...An avid golfer, Simpson played all four years of high school.
