Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding
student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Woodlands Credit Union
Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their
efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Ali Savage, (Orange, New South Wales, Australia) So., Field Hockey
Savage scored four times in a win against Vermont and followed up with an assist on Sunday's game-winning goal against Ivy League rival Columbia on the road. The second-year forward was also tabbed as the league's Co-Player of the Week for her nine points on the week. The accolade was her second in as many weeks from the league office. The four-goal game against the Catamounts was just one tally shy of the program's all-time single-game record and set a new career high for the sophomore who has twice recorded hat tricks.
Dartmouth junior Bronson Green was named the Ivy League Football Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Big Green's 21-16 victory
at Columbia on Saturday. This is the third weekly award he has earned
during his career, and it is the sixth for a Dartmouth football player
Green, a 6-0, 215-pound linebacker out of Loyola High in Los Angeles, Calif., was one of three Dartmouth defenders to post 10 tackles in the road win. None of those tackles was bigger than his stop on a 3rd-and-1 play at the Big Green 21 in the fourth quarter with his squad clinging to a 14-10 lead. With the quarterback failing to sneak through the line on the play, the Lions were forced to attempt a 42-yard field goal (following a false start penalty) that went well left of the uprights.
