The mild New England winter has turned into a gorgeous, warm New England spring. This week's athletes of the week come from the spring fields of baseball and women's lacrosse. Senior Sarah Plumb led the Big Green women's lacrosse team to a double-overtime win over No. 3 Duke, scoring twice in the game including the gamewinner. The baseball team traveled south to open the 2012 season and senior David Turnbull had three doubles, five walks, three runs and four RBIs to lead the Big Green to its first two wins on the season.

Each week, will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

David Turnbull (St. Louis, Mo.), Sr., Outfielder, Baseball

Turnbull was instrumental in helping the baseball team produce its first two wins of the 2012 season while at Sacramento State last week. In a 12-4 victory over the Hornets, the switch-hitter reached base three times with two walks and a three-run double that sealed the win in the seventh inning. He came right back in the second game of a doubleheader by stroking three hits with two more doubles, scoring the first run of the game in the fifth and doiubling home the last in the seventh of the 6-1 triumph. In the Big Green's four games, Turnbull hit .545 (6-for-11) with three doubles, five walks, three runs and four RBIs, reaching base at a .688 clip.

Sarah Plumb( Wellesley, Mass.) Sr., Midfield, Women's Lacrosse

Plumb scored one of the biggest goals in program history with her double-overtime, sudden-victory tally that propelled the Big Green to an upset of No. 3 Duke Saturday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. The goal was her second of the afternoon and gave Dartmouth its first win over the Blue Devils in eight tries. She added two assists to give her a team-leading four points on the afternoon. That performance, coupled with a solid showing against Vermont three days earlier, helped Plumb earn Division I Player of the Week honors from Plumb leads the Big Green in scoring with 16 goals and 22 points and is one of the top players in all the Ivy League this season.
