It is all about horses and golf courses this week as our DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the week are represented by both. Sophomore Joey Maziar had a fourth place finish to help lead the Big Green men's golf team to a tournament victory at the Big 5 Invitational. On horseback, sophomore Janna Wandzilak had two first place finishes over the weekend in Intermediate Fences, earning enough points to qualify for Regionals.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Joey Maziar  (Atlanta, Ga.) Sophomore, Men's Golf

Sophomore Joey Maziar (Atlanta, Ga.) helped the Big Green win its first tournament away from Hanover for the first time since 1999 this past weekend. Maziar shot 2-over-par at the Big 5 Invitational and finished in fourth place. Dartmouth won the 22-team event with a final score of 578. Maziar shot an even-par 70 in the first round, highlighted by an eagle on the 18th hole. In the second round, he fired a 2-over-par 72 after carding a birdie on the final hole. The Big Green finishes their fall season at the The Classic at Shelter Harbor, R.I. this weekend, Oct. 15-16.

Janna Wandzilak (Waxhaw, N.C.), Sophomore, Equestrian

Sophomore Janna Wandzilak (Waxhaw, N.C.) of the Dartmouth equestrian team started the season on the right note, taking first place in Intermediate Fences Saturday at Middlebury and Sunday at Vermont. Her two first-place performances this past weekend helped her earn   a spot at Regionals in the event as she already has the necessary point total to qualify. She helped the Big Green to a third-place showing Saturday and a fifth-place finish Sunday.
