DURHAM, N.H. - The spring season began Saturday afternoon for the Dartmouth equestrian team with a show at New Hampshire. Competing in a field of 11 teams, the Big Green opened 2012 with a third-place showing.

Two first-place finishes in the Walk Trot Canter from sophomore Maya Johnson (Kenai, Alaska) and freshman Tasha Bock (Encinitas, Calif.) helped lead Dartmouth Saturday afternoon.

Junior Helena Witte also claimed first place, doing so in the Novice Fences competition.  Sophomore Morgan Curtis (London, England) was the fourth member of the team to take the top spot in an event, claiming first in the Novice Flat.

In Open Fences, senior Faye Keegan (Greenwich, Conn.) took second. Freshman Emily Estelle (Westminster, Mass.) and junior Amanda Duchesne also earned second-place showings in the Novice Flat and Walk Trot, respectively.

Dartmouth will be back in action this weekend with a show in Burlington, Vt., hosted by the Catamounts.
