Athletes Ride and Hit their Way to Athlete of the Week Honors
After leading their respective teams to success this past week, baseball player Joe Sclafani and Equestrian rider Sarah Spagenberg have earned Cross High Performance Athlete of the Week status. Junior Joe Sclafani hit .364 (8-for-22), scored seven runs and drove in four to lead the Big Green baseball team to two Ivy wins and a non-league victory over Siena. Senior Sarah Spangenberg qualified for her first-ever Zone Finals after placing first in two events at the Regional Show in which the Big Green hosted.

Junior shortstop Joe Sclafani helped lead Dartmouth to three victories last week, including two against Columbia in a rematch of last year's Ivy Championship Series. First, he posted three hits in a 16-11 slugfest against Siena in the home opener, then began the Ivy slate with a lead-off homer against the Lions to set the tone for the doubleheader. He also doubled in another run in the 6-4 win, then singled and tripled in the nightcap as the Big Green handled Columbia, 8-1. For the week, the co-captain hit .364 (8-for-22), scoring seven runs and driving in four from his lead-off spot in the lineup.
Sarah Spangenberg (Atlanta, Ga.), Senior, Equestrian
Last weekend Dartmouth hosted its Regional Competition for the first time in school-history and three Big Green riders were able to win their races and advance to the Zone Finals and make it one stop closer to competing at Nationals in early May. Senior Sarah Spangenberg was tops for the Big Green in both Novice Flat and Novice Fences, qualifying her for Zone's in those two categories. This is the first time that Spangenberg has qualified for Regionals and will comepete in a Zone Finals.
