TROY, N.Y. - For the third straight game, senior Jenna Hobeika found the back of the net, but her fourth goal of the season wasn't enough to help the Dartmouth's women's hockey team defeat Rensselaer Friday night at Houston Field House.

The Engineers knocked off the Big Green, 2-1, snapping the three-game win streak the visitors brought into the first contest of 2013.

With the one-goal loss in its return to league play, the Green and White fall to 7-5-2 overall and 3-4-1 against ECAC Hockey competition. RPI pushed its own win streak to four and is now 4-5-0 in league games and 6-11-2 overall.

A surge in the third period produced Hobeika's tally 6:39 in, but eventually fell short in the end with the extra attacker on looking for the equalizer. In the final frame, Dartmouth fired 14 shots on goal as it tried to dig itself out of a 2-0 hole.

Freshman winger Catherine Berghuis picked up her first career point on the goal, collecting the primary assist. Defender Morgan Illikainen had the second helper, starting the play.

RPI's Taylor Horton put the Engineers ahead, 1-0, just 7:19 into the game, a score that held up for another 27 minutes or so before Lauren Wash gave the home team a two-goal advantage.

Lindsay Holdcroft turned aside 20 saves in the contest, but suffered her first loss since Dec. 5 at No. 5 Northeastern. At the other end of the ice, Engineer netminder Kelly O'Brien turned aside 26 to earn the win.

The Big Green will look to put Friday's loss behind them as they head to Union Saturday afternoon in Schenectady. The game is set for 4 p.m. at Messa Rink.
