SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – For the first time this season, the Dartmouth women’s hockey was shut out, losing to Union, 3-0, in ECAC Hockey action on Friday at Messa Rink.

With the loss, the Big Green (0-4-0, 0-3-0 ECACH) have lost four straight to open the season while the Dutchwomen (4-5-0, 1-0-0 ECACH) registered their first-ever win against Dartmouth.

Heading into the contest the Green and White were 20-0-0 all time against Union having never allowed more than two goals in a game. On Friday, the Dutchwomen flipped the script as goaltender Shenae Lundberg stopped all 25 shots she faced en route to her fourth win of the year.

Dartmouth outshot Union 25-18, holding an impressive 10-0 edge in the third period. The late scoring threats wouldn’t phase Lundberg and the Union defense as they stood strong.

Union’s Taylor Purvis opened the scoring a little over halfway through the opening stanza. Purvis’ first goal of the season proved to be the game winner as Jessica Kaminsky and Christine Valent picked up the assists.

In the second period, the Dutchwomen added a pair of goals as Kathryn Davis and Kathryn Tomaselli found the back of the net.

The top line of Kennedy Ottenbreit, Laura Stacey and Lindsey Allen created the most opportunities for Dartmouth as the trio combined for 12 shots.

On the power play, the Big Green failed to score in a game for the first time this season, going 0-for-5. On the defensive end, the penalty kill continues to play well for head coach Mark Hudak, killing all four penalties on the night. Over the first four games the team is 16-for-17 when a man down.

Junior Katie Milligan made her first start of the year between the pipes for the team from the Upper Valley turning aside 15 shots in a losing effort.

The Big Green wrap up their first ECAC Hockey road weekend of the season tomorrow, Nov. 2, as they square off with Rensselaer. Dartmouth is looking to avenge a 2-1 defeat a year ago inside Houston Fieldhouse.
