ALBANY, N.Y. – The ECAC Hockey league office released its 2013-14 Preseason Women's Coaches Poll as well as all-conference selections during its annual teleconference Tuesday morning.

After finishing sixth in the league a year ago with an 11-7-4 record, the Dartmouth women earned the No. 6 spot on the preseason rankings with 75 points as voted by the league’s head coaches.

Clarkson received seven of 12 first-place votes to land at the top of the poll with 117 points. Defending league champion Cornell had the five other first-place votes to finish second with 111 points. Harvard was third with 99 and Quinnipiac (94) and St. Lawrence (78) rounded out the top five.

The Big Green look to continue their strong play in conference action as the team has made the postseason tournament each of the last three seasons.

Dartmouth returns a strong core of young players, including sophomore Laura Stacey who was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team during her freshman campaign. Three-time ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week Lindsay Holdcroft returns for her final season between the pipes for head coach Mark Hudak.

The Big Green lost nine players to graduation from last year’s team, but a talented group of underclassmen, including seven incoming freshmen and a sophomore class that impressed during their first collegiate season.
