NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Morgan Illikainen's first career goal propelled the Dartmouth women's hockey team to a 5-4 overtime victory over Yale Friday night at Ingalls Rink. With the win, the Big Green improve to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 in ECAC Hockey. The Bulldogs fall to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Midway through the extra frame, Illikainen collected a pass from senior Camille Dumais, firing past Yale goaltender Jaimie Leonoff and finding the back of the net. With just 1:11 left in the period, her first career goal could not have come at a better time for the Big Green.

After four straight goals gave Dartmouth a comfortable 4-2 third period lead, Yale's Janelle Ferrara scored twice to send the game into overtime. Ferrara's game-tying goal, which came with just 1:29 left in regulation, was her third of the contest. She is the second player in as many games to have a hat trick against the Big Green, as Quinnipiac's Nicole Kosta had one last Saturday.

Yale jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals from Ferrara and Hanna Astrom just 31 seconds apart. But Dumais pulled Dartmouth back within one, notching her second of the season at the 16:31 mark to make the score 2-1. Seniors Sasha Nanji and Reagan Fischer picked up assists on the play.

Two second-period goals gave the visitors their first lead of the night, a 3-2 advantage. Sophomore forward Karlee Odland tied the contest with her second of the season just 3:46 into the frame, before classmate Abbie Lund picked up her first career marker midway through. Seniors Jessica Gagner and Lisa Berreman assisted on the play.

Thanks to Fischer, the Big Green scored their fourth straight goal 2:53 into the third period for a 4-2 advantage before Ferrara gave them trouble.

Dartmouth doubled up Yale in shots for the game, putting 44 on net compared to the Bulldogs' 22. In goal, junior Lindsay Holdcroft (2-0-0) made 18 saves for the Green and White, including eight in the third period and two in the extra frame. Her counterpart, Leonoff (1-4-0), stopped 39 shots for the Bulldogs.

The Big Green return to the ice Saturday, Nov. 3 to face Brown in conference action. Faceoff is 4 p.m.
