POTSDAM, N.Y. – For the second time this season, the Dartmouth women’s hockey team was shutout in ECAC Hockey action, falling, 3-0, to No. 6 Clarkson on Friday night inside Cheel Arena.

The woes continued against ranked teams for the Big Green (1-5-0, 1-4-0 ECACH) as the team from the Upper Valley is now 0-3-0 this year against top-ten squads. Dating back to last season, Dartmouth is 0-8-3 versus ranked foes with its last win coming against Northeastern in November of 2011.

The Golden Knights (8-2-2, 3-1-1 ECACH) have now won four straight versus head coach Mark Hudak’s squad.

The Green and White had another strong game on the penalty kill as they went a perfect 9-for-9. Through the first six games this season, Dartmouth has killed 29-of-30 penalties.

On the opposite end, the Big Green went 0-for-7 with the man advantage. The Clarkson penalty kill was stout as they didn’t allow the Big Green to get a shot on any of the seven chances while creating their own scoring opportunities.

Clarkson’s Jessica Gillham opened the scoring just over nine minutes into the opening period as she found the back of the net for the first time in 2013-14. Genevieve Bannon added some insurance a little over a minute into the third period and Jamie Lee Rattray put the game out of reach for the Golden Knights with an empty-net goal.

Erica Howe earned the shutout for Clarkson , stopping all 11 shots she faces while Dartmouth’s Lindsay Holdcroft turned aside 31 shots in a losing effort.

Dartmouth returns to the ice on Saturday, Nov. 9, heading into Appleton Arena for an ECAC Hockey showdown with St. Lawrence. The Big Green are looking to avenge a 2-1 defeat to the Saints on the road last season.
