HANOVER, N.H. - After registering the first multi-goal game of her young career, Dartmouth forward Ailish Forfar was named ECAC Hockey Women's Rookie of the Week.
After leading the Big Green to a 2-1 record last week, the East Gwillinbury, Ontario, native became the first freshman on the squad to earn conference honors this season.
Forfar tallied four shots-on-goal in the Green and White's 2-1 loss at Rensselaer on Jan. 4 and had a breakout game the following night in a win at Union.
Against the Dutchwomen, the second-line center scored two goals and was +2 while on the ice. The multi-point game was the first during her tenure in Hanover and came less then a week after she scored the first game-winning tally of her freshman campaign in a 4-2 win at Providence.
The game-winner against Providence was also the first goal of her career.
Through 11 games this season, Forfar has three markers, two of which have come on the power play.
Jillian Dempsey from Harvard was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week and St. Lawrence's Carmen MacDonald was tabbed Goaltender of the Week.
Forfar and the Big Green return to action this evening, Jan. 9, when they travel to Burlington to take on regional rivals Vermont. The game is slated to start at 7 p.m. The contest is the last of an eight-game road trip for the Big Green who return home this weekend, Jan. 11 and 12, when they host ECAC Hockey foes Quinnipiac and Princeton. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m. on Friday against the Bobcats and 4 p.m. on Saturday against the Tigers.
