WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 12 Dartmouth lightweight rowing team competed in the 2018 Eastern Sprints Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday.

With three boats in the regatta, the Big Green had all three compete in the petite final in their respective events.

In the third varsity eight Dartmouth finished fifth in the first heat (6:19.25) as Princeton took first (5:58.80). The team in green and white advanced to the petite final where they took third (6:19.71) behind Yale (6:12.26) and Georgetown (6:16.34).

The second varsity boat also had a good showing, taking fifth in heat one (6:11.79) to advance to the petite final where the Big Green took second place (6:17.58), edging Georgetown (6:25.26) and MIT (6:33.44). The second varsity team had the best time finish in the final out of any Big Green team on the day.

Dartmouth’s first varsity squad came in fourth in the first heat (5:53.80) ahead of Georgetown (6:05.16), receiving the advance to the petite final. In the last petite final of the afternoon for lightweight competition the Big Green came in second (6:17.84) ahead of Georgetown (6:20.22) and MIT (6:26.05), much like the second varsity team’s result. 

Up next for Dartmouth is the IRA National Regatta starting Friday, June 1 in Princeton, New Jersey.
