HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's lightweight crew team's varsity eight will travel across the water to race in the historic Henley Royal Regatta June 23-July 1.

The Big Green, fresh off a second-place finish at the 2012 IRA National Championship, will open action with preliminary heats June 27 and June 28.

The Dartmouth squad is one of 68 entries in the Temple Challenge Cup and is one of six entries from the United States. Fellow Ivy League schools, Brown and Harvard, are also participating.  California - Berkley is currently the holder of the Temple Challenge Cup after winning the race last year.

The Big Green is making its second appearance at the Royal Henley Regatta in the last six seasons and its 16th overall appearance. The lightweights also made the trip in 2007 and in 2003.

The format of the Royal Henley is knockout races, which involve head-to-head races with the other crews, with the winners advancing to the next round and culminating in the championship race on July 1. The Big Green last reached the quarterfinals in 2003.
