HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's lightweight team picked up its third Cup win of the season with a win over Cornell on Saturday (April 28) on the Connecticut River.
The weather conditions were windy throughout. There was a modest tail wind but the headwinds increased throughout the days races.
The Big Green, who won their third consecutive Baggaley Bowl, outpaced the Big Red in the pivotal first varsity eight race. Dartmouth claimed the bowl by crossing the finish line with a time of 6:04.9, ahead of Cornell, who took second with a time of 6:10.6.
The second varsity eight race was also very exciting with just five second separating the crews. Cornell claimed the race with a time of 5:49.1 just ahead of the Big Green crew who crossed the finish line with a time of 5:54.7.
Cornell also claimed the freshman race with a time of 6:09.2. The Big Green freshman took second with a time of 6:14.1. The Big Red also took the third varsity eight race with a time 6:04.5 ahead of the Dartmouth's third varsity and second freshman boat, who finished with times of 6:21.5 and 6:29.4, respectively.
Dartmouth will take some time off before traveling to the 2012 EARC Sprints held May 13 in Worcester, Mass.
