Q & A with Brendan Goldrick

Why Dartmouth?

Out of the schools I was considering I thought that Dartmouth struck the perfect balance between the intimacy of a small liberal arts college and the opportunity of a research-oriented university. The sense of community among the students was apparent when I visited and the setting in small-town New Hampshire appealed to me.

How long have you been rowing and what interested you about rowing?

My freshman fall was the first time that I ever pulled an oar. I decided to walk on to the team because I've participated in endurance sports for most of my life and wanted to continue athletics in college. The teamwork required by rowing was a new challenge for me, and my teammates are awesome people with whom I love spending so much time.

What is something about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates?

Rowing was a popular sport at both high schools I attended, but for some reason I missed out on it until college.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in on campus?

I'm also a tour guide for the admissions office, I sing a cappella with the Dartmouth Brovertones, and I'm a representative on the school's Student Assembly.

What are your future plans, if any?

I plan to be an Economics major and a Chinese minor. Life plans beyond college are a bit too far to project at the moment.
