Alex Wetherell enters his third season as an assistant coach at Dartmouth. Wetherell joined the men's tennis team in the summer of 2011 after graduating from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He played tennis at UNC Wilmington from 2007 through 2011.
During his playing career, he positioned himself into the top 5 for all time wins in UNCW history. He won the Colonial Athletics Association (CAA) Championship in 2009 for the first time in school history as UNCW upset perennial power VCU 4-3. Wetherell also led his team to another CAA title as a senior captain in 2011. In 2009 and 2011 the team qualified for the NCAA team championships. He was undefeated in the NCAA team tournament both years he competed.
Wetherell earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in human resources.
In his first year on staff, Wetherell helped guide the Big Green to new heights. Dartmouth earned many program firsts as they earned 18 victories on the season and were ranked as high as #49 in the ITA rankings. Also two Big Green players earned All-Ivy League accolades in doubles under his tutelage.In his second year with the team, Wetherell led the team to a national ranking for the second straight year. A pair of Big Green players earned All-Ivy League honors in doubles.
