HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women’s golf team shaved seven strokes off its opening round 311 in the final round on Sunday at the Dartmouth Invitational to finish in third place.
The annual two-day 36-hole event is played at the par-72, 5,846 yard Hanover Country Club. The 11-team field capped the tournament on Sunday with the closing 18.
Yale maintained it's team lead, shooting a 289 in round two to score a 23 stroke victory over second place Boston University. The Big Green, Brown and Siena rounded out the top five.
Senior Sarah Knapp was the top finisher for Dartmouth, shooting a final round 77 to finish in sole possession of 10th place. Knapp picks up where she left off a year ago adding yet another top-10 result to her collegiate resume.
Junior Jane Lee followed an opening round 78 with a three-over par 75 to end in 14th. Lee was one of four members of the Big Green to improve on their first round score. The biggest improvement came from freshman Jamie Susanin who knocked 10 strokes off her opening round total. Susanin carded a 77 in the final round to earn a share of 36th.
Freshman Tara Simmons and sophomore Jessica Goldstein rounded out the field for Dartmouth. Simmons shot a 75 on Sunday to enter the clubhouse tied for 15th and Goldstein fired a 78 to earn a share of 23rd.
The Big Green return to the links Sept. 20-22, traveling to New Haven, Conn. to take part in the Yale Invitational.
