BARRINGTON, R.I. — The Dartmouth women's golf team is fourth after the opening round on Sunday at the Brown Invitational. The Big Green are 22 shots behind St. John's (304) who leads the event.

At the Rhode Island Country Club, Dartmouth shot a 326 (+38) on the 6,067-yard par-72 course. Freshman Jane Lee (North Shore City, New Zealand) leads the Big Green and is tied for fifth after shooting a 77 (+5). She posted a 40 on the front nine, but improved with a 37 on the back. Sophomore Sarah Knapp (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) is one shot back of Lee and tied for 10th with a 78 (+6).

Freshman Savannah Grice (Atlanta, Ga.) is tied for 23rd with an 83 (+11), and senior Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) is tied for 38th after shooting an 88 (+16). Senior Kathleen Quirk (Kansas City, Mo.) and junior Emily Hyman (Chappaqua, N.Y.) are both tied for 47th with a 92 (+20).

The host Bears are in second with a 314 (+26) and Penn sits in third after a 320 (+32). Kelly Shon of Princeton leads the Invitational after the first day with a one-under-par 71.

The tournament concludes on Monday, April 9.
