HANOVER, N.H — The Dartmouth women's golf team set a new program record and sits in first place after the first round of the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club on Saturday. The Big Green shot a 303, which set a new program record at their home course. The previous record was 305.

"The team played solid for all 18 holes," said first year head coach Janet Coles. "We came in prepared and executed according to that plan."

Dartmouth has two players tied for second after shooting a three-over-par 75. Senior Heather Roland (Newton Square, Pa.) and freshman Jane Lee (North Shore City, N.J.) are both four shots off the leader, Sarah Sideranko of Boston University.

Hartford is in second place, 17 shots behind Dartmouth, with a 320. Central Connecticut State is in third at 324 and the Big Green's "B" squad is in fourth at 327.

Sophomore Sarah Knapp (Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.) is in fifth place with a four-over-par 76. The other scorer for the Big Green's A squad is senior Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) with a five-over-par 77.

The second day of the Invitational takes place on Sunday, Sept. 18, starting at 8 a.m.
