HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's golf team held a large lead after round one of the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club and performed well in round two to hold onto the victory on Sunday. The Big Green finished the two-day tournament with a final score of 629. It marked the first time Dartmouth has won the tournament since 1992, when they finished with a 652. Siena finished in second at 638 and Hartford placed third at 641.

Senior Heather Roland (Newtown Square, Pa.) and freshman Jane Lee (North Shore City, New Zealand) each tied for second with a 154. Sophomore Sarah Knapp (Ponte Verde Beach, Calif.) finished fifth with a 156. The other two players in the Dartmouth top five were senior Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect, Ill.) and sophomore Evan Sterneck (Leawood, Kan.). Smith finished tied for 21st with a 165 and Sterneck placed 48th with a 181.

Sarah Sideranko, of Hartford, was the top individual at five-over-par with a 149. Stephanie Klein, of Albany, finished tied with Roland and Lee for second.

Dartmouth shot a 326 as a team in round two on the par-72, 5,816-yard course. In the first round of the invitational, the Big Green shot a school-record 303 at their home course.

The team travels to Princeton next weekend, Sept. 24-25, for the Princeton Invitational.
