Football Game Versus Cornell To Be Aired on NBC Sports Network
This will be the 20th consecutive year — and 30th season out of the last 31 — in which the Big Green have at least one of their football games broadcast on television. Since 1953, Dartmouth has had 77 of its games televised with eight of those contests coming against the Big Red. In every one of those eight matchups, the home team has emerged victorious with the Big Green going 6-2. The last time these two met in front of the cameras was six years ago when Dartmouth won a wild shootout, 59-31.
Each of the schools in the Ancient Eight will have at least one game broadcast during the season on NBC Sports Network, which has televised 24 Ivy League football contests over the past five seasons. NBC Sports Group's college football studio team will provide pregame and postgame coverage during select college football telecasts during the college football season. Game commentators will be announced closer to the start of the season.
Dartmouth has been on the rise in the Ivy League standings having finished among the top three each of the past two seasons. Last year, the Big Green posted a winning record overall (6-4) and in conference play (4-3) while achieving a perfect 5-0 mark on the road. Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach Buddy Teevens, in his 14th season at the Dartmouth helm and ninth year of his second stint in Hanover, has many of his skill-position players back from last year’s squad, including the Ivy League Rookie of the Year in sophomore quarterback Dalyn Williams, and All-Ivy honorees in senior running back Dominick Pierre and junior wide receiver Ryan McManus.
The season begins on Sept. 21 when the Big Green travel to Indianapolis to take on one of the Pioneer Football League favorites, Butler, at 6 p.m. Local fans will get their first look at the team in the home opener the following Saturday against Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
Five of the six home games, as well as the three Ivy road contests, will be video streamed live via Big Green Insider, the Dartmouth channel on the newly formed Ivy League Digital Network (the Cornell game is unavailable due to broadcasting rights). Dick Lutsk and Wayne Young ’72 will once again call all of the action for Big Green Insider and on WFRD 99Rock at 99.3 FM in Hanover.
Through Aug. 21, fans can subscribe for a Big Green Insider 12-month package at a 20 percent discount for $71.95 to get all Big Green streamed events in the 2013-14 school year, or sign up for 12 months of every Ivy League streamed event for $95.95.
