HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth football team gets its preseason training schedule underway on Wednesday when the players hit the field beginning at 8:15 a.m. Preseason practice will give Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach Buddy Teevens another opportunity to evaluate his team after a competitive spring on the gridiron.

Picked sixth in the preseason poll by the media after finishing the 2011 season in a tie for second place with a 4-3 mark in the Ivy League, the Big Green will be led on the field by tri-captains Bronson Green (Jr., LB, 6-1, 215), Patrick Lahey (Sr., OL, 6-3, 285) and Garrett Waggoner (Sr., FS, 6-2, 205).

Dartmouth opens camp with sophomore Alex Park (So., QB, 6-1, 195) as the expected starter behind center. Park saw limited action last fall, completing 6-of-8 passes in two contests, but emerged as the favorite during the spring. Stepping in at tailback to take the place of 2010 Bushnell Cup winner and 2011 All-American Nick Schwieger will be junior Dominick Pierre (Jr., RB, 6-0, 200) who has averaged 5.0 yards per carry in the 149 times he has taken a handoff in his first two campaigns.

The rookie receiving corps from a year ago, consisting of Bo Patterson (So., WR, 6-2, 180) and Kirby Schoenthaler (So., WR, 6-0, 185) will be bolstered with the return of Michael Reilly (Sr., WR, 6-1, 190), who sat out last season after compiling over 1,000 receiving yards in his first three seasons in Hanover.

Green, an honorable mention All-Ivy selection in 2011, spearheads the defense that had nine starters graduate. But two key players, each of whom missed all but two games last year, return to the fold as well in Waggoner and Chase Womack (Sr., CB, 6-0, 190). And nickelback Mike Banaciski (Jr., DB, 5-11, 185) was never listed as a starter yet was sixth on the team in tackles a year ago.

Check back to throughout the preseason schedule for interviews with Coach Teevens and several players before the season gets under way under the lights on Sept. 15 at Memorial Field against Butler.
