PRINCETON, N.J. – Dartmouth men’s swimming and diving opened the three-day, six-session Big Al Invitational at Princeton’s DeNunzio Pool on Friday. The Big Green are currently in eighth place with 42 points.
Dartmouth kicked off the first day of finals by taking 12th in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:24.94). Composed of Brandon Liao, Tony Shen, Henry Patrick and Gabriel Mathews, the Big Green touched six one-hundredths of a second behind Villanova.
Connor LaMastra placed fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:29.67), picking up 14 points. His time of 4:28.95 in prelims was just four seconds off the Dartmouth record. Bruno Korbar also swam the event and took 15th (4:34.27).
In the 200-yard IM, Robert Purvis dropped two seconds off his swim from the morning to finish in 21st (1:51.79).
The Big Green wrapped up the day by taking 13th in the 400-yard medley relay (3:24.52). Made up of Henry Senkfor, Liao, LaMastra and Shen, the relay left over a second between it and Villanova in 14th.
Prelims on day two of the invite will start at 10 a.m.
