BLACKSBURG, Va. - Dartmouth freshman diver Brett Gillis (Kitchner, Ontario, Canada) continued action at the 2013 NCAA A Zone Meet in the 3-meter competition. Gillis placed 19th in the preliminary round, one spot shy of reaching the afternoon finals.
Gillis performed six dives in preliminary action and scored a 288.05 just .10 away from the 18th place finisher, Christopher Kelly, from Princeton who scored a 288.15. Gillis' score didn't advance him to the finals, but for the second consecutive day he concluded action in the top 30.
Gillis will continue action at the 2013 NCAA Zone A Meet on Sunday with the platform competition. Action gets underway at 12 p.m., with preliminary action. The top 18 divers will advance to the afternoon finals.
A total of 11 divers from Zone A will automatically qualify for the national championship. There will be six women who will advance and five men.
