STORRS, Conn. - The Dartmouth swimming and diving teams closed out the non-conference slate with a dual meet against UConn on Sunday (Feb. 5). The Big Green dropped both dual meets to the Huskies.

Despite a hard fought meet on both sides, the women dropped a close 158-142 meet to the Huskies while the men fell 172-128.

The Dartmouth women had a good showing in the freestyle and backstroke events highlighted by the performance of Meredith Sweeney (Hinsdale, Ill.). The sophomore claimed the 100 and 200 backstroke titles with times of 58:82 and 2:05.67, respectively. The Big Green also went 1-2-3 in the 200 free, 100 free and 100 back.

John Hill (Erie, Pa.) had a great meet on the men's side. He won the 200 free with a time of 1:41.31 and was just a few tenths off a lifetime best and he also swam a season-best in the 500 free with a time of 4:41.15.

Albert Roth (Aurora, Ill.) also picked up wins for the Big Green in the 200 fly (1:52.16) and took runner up honors in the 200 breast (2:06.26).

The female sprinters also had a good meet, with a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 free. Sasha Alcon (Fremont, Calif.) led the Dartmouth contingent, taking first place with a time of 52:59. Siobhan Hengemuhle (Boulder, Colo.) and Christine Kerr (Gainesville, Fla.) finished in second and third with times of 53:38 and 53.73.

Charlotte Williams (Boca Raton, Fla.) paced the Big Green in the breaststroke events, swimming a season best in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.79, which was good enough for runner-up honors.

Will Derdeyn (St. Louis, Mo.) and Jack Driessen (Ridgefield, Conn.) also won events for the Big Green. Derdyen claimed the 100 fly with a time of 50:53 while Driessen won the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.52 in his final collegiate meet.

The Big Green closed the meet with a win in the 400 free relay on the women's side. The quartet of Christine Kerr, Alcon, Hengemuhle and Elizabeth Kamai (Corte Madera, Calif.) claimed top honors with a time of 3:31.09.

The teams will head to New York for its final Ivy League dual meet of the season against Columbia on Saturday (Feb. 11).
