Finishing up the winter in the pool and moving on to the links is where we find this week's Athletes of the Week. Junior Sarah Knapp led the Big Green women's golf team to third place in the Low Country Intercollegiate with her medalist finish at six-over-par. Junior Nejc Zupan became the first Dartmouth swimmer to earn a top 10 finish at the NCAA championship. The Slovenia native swam to an 8th place finish in the 200 breaststroke.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
In the first tournament of the spring season, junior Sarah Knapp helped lead the Dartmouth women's golf team to third place in the 16-team field at the Low Country Intercollegiate. In the rain shortened one day event, Knapp carded a six-over-par 78 to share individual medalist honors with Western Carolina's Mari Kjelldorff. The tournament in South Carolina marked the third time in 2012-13 that the Ponte Vedra beach, Fla., native was the low finisher for the Big Green.

Junior swimmer Nejc Zupan capped his stellar season with an eighth place finish in the 200 breast at the 2013 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Zupan, who competed in the 200 IM, 100 breast and 200 breast at the national championship, placed 42nd in the 200 IM and was disqualified in the 100 breast before putting it all together in the 200 breast. Zupan's preliminary time of 1:53.29 seeded him third heading into the evening final and was also a new Dartmouth record. The Slovenian native swam a 1:54.40 in the final, placing him eighth and earned him 11 points towards the team score. His top 10 finish also earned him All-American honors. Zupan became the first-ever Dartmouth swimmer to earn a top 10 finish and was the first swimmer to compete at the event since Todd Taylor in 1980.
