INDIANAPOLIS– Junior Nejc Zupan (Kamnik, Slovenia) added to his numerous honors this season by picking up All-American honors by way of his eighth-place finish in the 200 breast at last weekend’s NCAA Championships.

Zupan, who was the Phil Moriarity Ivy League Swimmer of the Meet after winning three individual events, becomes Dartmouth’s first All-American in recent history.

The Slovenian became the first Dartmouth swimmer to participate in the championships since Todd Taylor in 1980. Zupan, who also participated in the 200 IM and 100 breast, placed 42nd in the 200 IM with a time of 1:46.39 and was disqualified in the 100 breast.

Zupan saved his best swim of the championships for the final day and was the third seed entering the evening after swimming a school record 1:53.29 in the morning preliminaries. He closed the event by swimming a 1:54.40, good enough for a top 10 finish, Dartmouth’s first-ever at the national championship.

The junior concluded an impressive season with four new Dartmouth individual records, three Ivy League titles and a top 10 finish at the 2013 NCAA Championships.
