David B. Jones II, who served as the Dartmouth assistant men's tennis coach for 23 years under recently retired head coach Chuck Kinyon, is now moving over to be the Big Green's assistant women's coach. Jones, who will work with head coach Bob Dallis, previously coached the Dartmouth women's tennis team during the 2002  season, when he stepped in as the interim assistant coach.

Jones was recently named the 2010 ITA Northeast Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year. He also won this award in 1998.

"We're lucky to have someone with Dave's extensive coaching experience and technical knowledge join our program," said Dallis, whose 2010 team achieved a No. 60 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) final ranking out of nearly 350 Division I teams, the Big Green's highest national ranking to date. "The players saw firsthand the excellent coaching job he did with the men's tennis team. They can't wait to start working with D.J."

Jones coached the USTA/New England Boy's Jr. Davis Cup team for over 10 years. He coached numerous collegiate players on that team, including newly-named Dartmouth men's head coach Chris Drake, a former ATP pro tour player, and former top five ATP pro James Blake.

In addition to his new duties with the women's tennis program, Jones has been appointed Manager/Head Tennis Professional of the Alexis Boss Tennis Center. He begins his duties at the tennis center in August, and will oversee the operations as well as membership management, scheduling, and tennis instruction.

"I am very excited that Dave Jones will be joining our staff at the Alexis Boss Tennis Center in this new capacity," said Richard Whitmore, Dartmouth's Associate Athletic Director for Operations and Facilities. "It is our good fortune to have someone as highly respected and accomplished as Dave as a member of our team."

During the summer months Jones is co-director of the award-winning Kinyon/Jones Tennis Camp at Dartmouth, voted one of TENNIS Magazine's 10 Best Junior Camps in 2004.
